Banana Nut Bread

This is the best banana nut bread I have ever made! So full of flavor.This is my dense, excellent, and definitely healthier version of banana nut bread recipe. It's always completely gone in minutes. This is great at parties, and gone in minutes at home. Loaded with banana flavor and just the right hint of honey, this old-fashioned walnut-topped loaf is easy to prepare and tastes wonderful warm from the oven. Enjoy!!!

Makes 12 servings

IngredientsBanana Nut Bread

2 cups of all purpose flour (1 cup flour+1 cup oatmeal, if desired)

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 egg

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup honey

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 very ripe large bananas (mashed)

1 cup chopped walnuts plus 1/2 cup on top

 

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 325 F. Grease 9 by 5 by 3 loaf pan and dust with flour.

2. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

3. Mix together egg, sugar, honey and oil until combined. Add the flour mixture alternatively with the butermilk. Add the vanilla and mashed bananas and mix until well combined. Fold in the chopped walnuts and pour the batter in the prepared pan.

4. Top the cake with more walnuts and bake for 50-60 min or until the inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool completly before removing from the pan.
