Beef with Prosciutto and Mushrooms

The rich, earthy flavor of the mushrooms, the saltiness of the prosciutto and the dry wine sauce perfectly complements a good steak. This is a nice twist from the old fashioned grilled steak. So easy and so affordable. It makes a great party dinner and it always gets great reviews from my guests. Enjoy!!!

Makes 4 servings

IngredientsBeef with prosciutto

2 tbsp olive oil

8 ounces white button mushrooms, stalks removed

1 large onion, sliced

2 ounces prosciutto, chopped

4 beef steaks, New York strips or eye fillets steaks

2 cloves garlic, crushed

2 tbsp parsley, chopped

1/4 dry white wine

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/2 cup half and half

1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.

2. Heat the oil in an oven proof pan (large enough to hold the steaks in one layer). Add the prosciutto and cook for 2 min, add the mushrooms and onions. Toss until the mushrooms and onions start to become brown.

3. Layer the steaks over the vegetables, sprinkle with garlic, parsley, season to your taste. Pour the wine, cover and bring to a boil. Transfer the pan in the oven and bake for 15-20 min or until the steak is cooked as your desire.

4. Take the pan out of the oven and set the steaks aside to keep warm. Heat the pan and add the cream and simmer for about 5 min or until thickened slightly. Pour over the steaks and serve with roasted potatoes.
